NOTE:  Walk-in visits are for agents only (teachers, social workers, pastors and other human service agencies).  All other visits are by referral.

HOW TO GET HELP

Shelter Care Resources assists people who are referred by other agencies and organizations.

If you or someone you know are in need of services, you can go to your local school, church, clinic, hospital, or human service agency.

WHO TO CALL

This is a list of a few organizations we work with, whom you can contact if you need our help.  They all have different functions, so we have added a brief description of what they do and their contact info.  They all have certain types of assistance that they offer on their own, and any one of them can contact us if there is something we can provide that they don't have.  There are many other agencies that you can contact, but we might not have them listed here.

Capilla Calvario, Oxnard

Capila Calvario is a protestant, Spanish-Speaking Church who partners with us to help with clothing and supplies. If you know someone in need who speaks Spanish, they can speak to that person and make a referral.

Calvary Chapel Oxnard

Calvary Chapel Oxnard is a protestant church with both Spanish and English speaking people.  They provide emergency assistance to members of the church who apply and qualify  for it, and will partner with us to provide other materials.

Salvation Army, Oxnard

The Salvation Army, Oxnard hosts a weekly one-stop every Weds. from 8:30am - 11:00am.  They have a food pantry, showers, and housing information on Wednesdays.  They also have case management on other days of the week, and worship services at 11:00AM on Sundays.

Oxnard Union High School District

Each school has a homeless liaison, and they can refer any homeless families with kids who attend one or more of their schools.  Please ask your child's counselor who is the homeless liaison at the school site if you need a referral.

Oxnard School District

Oxnard School District has a homeless liaison at the district and at each site who can refer the families of their students.  They may also know of other available resources.

Vista Real Charter School

Vista Real Charter School has locations in Oxnard, Hueneme, Camarillo, Ventura and Simi Valley.  If you are a homeless student in need of resources, ask the school site counselor to refer you.

St. John's Hospital, Oxnard

St. John's will call if a mother who has recently given birth in that hospital needs materials for her baby.  If you are having a baby at St. John's and know you need things, ask the hospital social worker for a referral.

Community Memorial Hospital, Ventura

CMH will call if a mother who has recently given birth has needs for her baby.  If you are going to CMH to have a baby and you need things, ask the hospital social worker for a referral.

Adolescent Family Life Planning

AFLP is a program that helps teens in crisis pregnancy.  They will call if a teen mother needs materials for her baby.  This program is available by application and often has a waiting list.  For other teen parent needs, ask about the CalSAFE program at your high school.

Clinicas del Camino Real

Clinicas del Camino Real has clinics in Oxnard, Santa Paula, Ventura, Newbury Park, Fillmore, Ojai, and Simi Valley.  Ask any of their social workers if you need a referral for services.

Kids and Families Together

Kids and Families together provides counseling services for foster and resource families.  They also have special events for their families during the holidays.  Please call KFT if you are a foster or resource family needing supplies.
